Poor performance

Bought this unit 16 months ago. I have had it serviced twice w parts replacement under warranty. Now I have a discharge pumped failed and it is not under warranty. That's just poor reliability.

The unit RATTLES - ALL THE TIME! We've had two WP Service Techs out from two different companies. The first zip tied a part and said that should fix it, it didn't. We lived with it but then the noise level increased to the point that we could only run it at night. Then we decided that was just wrong so we called another company. The second tech said the "fan was hitting something and moved it over a little". It stopped rattling for 15 min., just enough time for him to get down the road. We purchased the unit 7/17/15, however we were building the house, which took much longer than anticipated. The unit actually was installed 4/12/16.

Repair nightmare

Bought this model at end of May 2016. It died after 3 wks. Needed new condenser. Friend here in the same town had the same problem. Part required was on national backorder. What? The unit was brand new! Getting unit repaired was a nightmare. Was told part would arrive in 7-10 business days. Took 4 weeks. Whirlpool certified repair co. was also a nightmare. Service person showed up to diagnose the problem but did not keep appt for installation. Very hard to reach owner who finally came on a Sunday (The unit is in a vacation rental that changes on Sundays). But he did not re-seat the drain hose properly in the drain pipe to the outside resulting in water damage to ceiling and wall in the room below. Sent him an email with photos and repair estimate. He agreed to pay. Sent him another email with photos of wall and ceiling after repairs were done. Told me if I didn't get check in 30 days to contact him. No check in 30 days. Called him. No answer and mailbox full. Sent email. No reply. Sent another email 9 days later indicating that I would have to advise Whirlpool of this situation if I didn't hear from him. Received reply from him saying there was no need to be nasty. He was out of state at a funeral and settling an estate. Told him I was only being firm since there was radio silence on his end and I had no clue what was going on or if he was even still in business. Finally received a check from him 6 weeks later. Horrible experience. Have had no problems since the repair but with a breakdown right after purchase, the required part on BO, and an unreliable and inept repair co. that made me and my rental agent crazy, I would not buy this item from Whirlpool again.

Poor Instructions and Help

I have a Whirlpool ice maker that is 1 year old. I am trying to clean it. I have wasted 2 bottles of overpriced Whirlpool cleaner and the cycle still has not run. Whirlpool chat would not help. The cycle will not start. The add cleaner light flashes until you unplug the machine and comes on again if you plug it in. Whirlpool will not help me. Do not buy an ice maker from Whirlpool.
